This week, New Settlers features one of the Old Settlers Inn’s favorite performers. Singer-songwriter Brooks Williams has been with New Settlers since the first year and we’ve recorded him whenever he was in the area. He combines rock, blues and jazz from his American roots with folk music of England, where he now resides. He tours extensively, so you may get a chance to see him in person if you’re lucky. In the meantime, enjoy a great performance from right up the road in Mound Ridge, Kansas.

New Settlers features Celeste Krenz and Sally Barris who shared a concert at the Old Settlers Inn. It was a blend of Americana and folk, solo and duet. There's something special about hearing songs performed by the people who actually wrote them. Check it out this Saturday evening.

This week it's Easily Amused – Canadian singer/songwriters with an alt-rock edge. Easily Amused was formed by Keith MacPherson and Renee Lamoureaux (who now go by “Keith and Renee”). The duo was recorded at Linesight Gallery in Wichita. Keith and Renee have been around for more than a decade – this recording was made fairly early in their career. They are fresh, friendly, hip and oh-so-talented.

Listen for folk and Americana musician Slaid Cleaves (based in Austin, TX), recorded at the Old Settlers Inn. Slaid performs both as a solo acoustic act and with other musicians. He first gained notice in 1992 when he won the Kerrville Folk Festival "New Folk" competition. He hit the Americana charts in 2000 with his album and song "Broke Down."

Listen for Krista Detor at the Old Settlers Inn. Krista is a singer-songwriter who has performed at venues around the world – including several times at the Old Settlers Inn. She's been writing music for film, TV and stage. She was an artist-in-residence in India. With all that, she still manages to tour a bit. As usual, the audience brings out the best in a singer-songwriter.

New Settlers features Groovelily, an award-winning trio fusing acoustic, pop, classical and jazz, recorded at the Old Settlers Inn. Groovelily’s sound also comes from their blended vocals and instrumentation – a six-string electric violin, keyboards and percussion. They're funny and eclectic and so very talented.

Listen for guitarist and singer/songwriter Tommy Emmanuel before a live audience at Wichita’s Orpheum Theater. The Australian-born showman first played in this area at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield several years ago. He started as an unknown but by the second day his shows were crowded with new fans. Tune in to see what all the excitement is about!
