Stroke kills nearly 168-thousand Americans each year. It's the 3rd leading cause of death behind heart disease and cancer and the leading cause of long term disability in the United States. For more than a decade, the death rate from stroke in Kansas had decreased 6 percent. Doctors say education and quick access to emergency care are helping people to better manage their stroke. KMUW's Carla Eckels reports on the progress of two local stroke survivors.
